Eggsploration

Eggs. They’re often viewed as mundane objects. But oddly enough, they can be near and dear to our hearts. I’ve had many experiences and memories associated with eggs throughout my life. I noticed that without even realizing it, eggs have been my muse for quite some time. It might be related to feelings of nostalgia as well as memories associated with eggs from my childhood. Or maybe it’s because of their fun and playful nature.

There is something oddly comforting about eggs. For some, it might be the taste of a home-cooked meal. For me, it is my mom making egg salad, or my egg stuffed animal that physically gives me comfort even to this day.

I took this project as an opportunity to explore all things eggs. I viewed the egg as an object and subject, rather than strictly as food. This book takes a deep dive into the world of eggs. It focuses on people’s personal connections to eggs, through stories and memories, and how they can be used as a means of expression through art and design.

Eggsploration is a collection of all things eggs. I studied the egg’s form through a wide variety of methods including stories, art direction, photography, illustration, typography, and form studies. I expressed my design process through the lens of an everyday object—the egg.
