This Bird Has Flown

This Bird Has Flown is a print and web based educational field guide. It aims to bring awareness to endangered bird species of Long Island and ways in which people can take action. In each of the ten chapters, I identify birds that are most threatened or at risk and assess how best to educate and spread word about their state. I combine this more scientific knowledge with digitally drawn illustrations, poetry, and an essay written by a bird enthusiast or local conservationist. These elements, consistent throughout each of the ten chapters, aim to highlight the biodiversity of these animals. The book itself is 112 pages and is Coptic-bound, featuring archival artwork and illustrations that I made of birds as chicks, as adults, and of their nests.
