Places to sit is a lovingly curated collection of public city benches by Denise Mylonakis. Made for the people, by the people; each city bench is a blueprint of those who made it, where it's located and the people who sit on it. The project was inspired and began with Montreal’s bench variety and craft then extended to New York’s historical benches and finally, Central Park’s bench dedication program. Places to sit lives on the web and features illustration, photography, motion graphics, augmented reality and tactile physical elements for that have been 3D printed or laser cut into thin pieces of birchwood. By looking at the city's often overlooked public seating and using it as a lens of study, one can better understand the history, people and ultimately, the human experience.
