Win from Within

23/24

Why do we nail three-pointers in one game but miss them all in the next? Win From Within is an interactive web article exploring the under appreciated relationship between athletic performance and the subconscious mind. Deeply inspired by Timothy Gallwey's book The Inner Game of Tennis, the article guides users in understanding and leveraging their innate and intuitive athletic abilities. A key focus is on the detrimental role of the ego, both in the Freudian sense and in terms of one’s sense of self-importance. In advocating for the minimization of ego in sports, the article also emphasizes self-actualization and celebrates the inherent value of movement, transforming sports into a journey of personal growth and inner discovery.

Designed as a visually engaging and accessible guide, Win from Within aims to extend the core principles of The Inner Game of Tennis to a wider audience, transcending tennis to encompass athletes from all sports. It employs a variety of media, including examples from modern sport, generative code, video, and scanned prints to enhance the learning experience by fostering a deeper connection with the reader’s athletic psyche.
